High security locks, and where they matter
The cylinder is the usual weak point of a flat door: it can be snapped, bumped or picked. A better cylinder and an escutcheon that protects it cost a fraction of what a break-in does, whether the door is in a seafront tower or an old-town house inside the walls.
- Certified anti-snap, anti-bump and anti-drill cylinders
- Security escutcheons that cover the cylinder face
- Extra locking points on doors that allow them
- Terrace doors and sliders that actually lock
Away for the season?
Ground-floor flats, villas spread over the slopes of Maryvilla, Ortembach and Oltamar, and homes empty over winter all benefit from a check before you fly. The closing-up checklist.
Already abroad and just heard the news? What to do from a distance.
When it is not a break-in
A lock that is simply worn or seized belongs with lock replacement. If you are locked out right now, the emergency call-out comes first.
After a break-in: questions
Should I call the police or the locksmith first?
The police, on 112 or 091, and do not touch the door or the lock until they have seen it if they ask you not to. Once they are done, we make the door secure.
Can the door be made secure the same day?
In most cases, yes. If the frame or the door itself is damaged beyond a same-day repair, we secure it temporarily so the property can be locked, and come back for the permanent work.
Will you give me something for the insurance?
Yes: photographs of the damage before and after, a description of what was forced and how, and an itemised invoice. Most insurers ask for exactly those.
What does a high security lock actually change?
A certified anti-snap, anti-bump, anti-drill cylinder, a reinforced escutcheon that covers it, and where the door allows, extra locking points. Together they turn a quiet, quick entry into a slow, noisy one, which is what makes most burglars give up.
I live abroad for part of the year. What should I do before I leave?
Upgrade the front door cylinder, fit an escutcheon, check the terrace doors lock properly and leave a key with someone you trust. We can check the whole house in one visit.
